The borgo

Antico Borgo is set inside the historic centre of Galtellì, in the province of Nuoro, and is run in the albergo diffuso spirit: guest rooms distributed through village buildings, all opening onto the same inner courtyard and garden instead of a lobby corridor. Rooms are clean, comfortable and family-sized, with private bathrooms, air conditioning, courtyard or garden views, minibar, TV and free WiFi. Breakfast is served each morning, and the house restaurant Il Ritrovo cooks Italian dishes for lunch, dinner and a slow cocktail hour.     Galtellì keeps its old shape: narrow lanes of stone and limewashed plaster, low doorways, painted numbers and the sound of shutters opening in the morning. Antico Borgo sits inside that fabric on Via Canne al Vento, so arriving feels less like checking into a hotel and more like being handed the key to a village house.

    Everything at the borgo gathers around the courtyard and garden. It is where breakfast is carried out on warm mornings, where guests read in the shade after a day on the trails, and where the outdoor dining area and terrace stay quiet well into the evening. Most rooms look onto this courtyard or the garden rather than a road.
